Dr. Vernon and Mrs. Margaret Cutshall Scholarship

Preference is given to candidates who are juniors or seniors in the Sanford School of Medicine who graduated from a South Dakota high school and who are planning to pursue a career in family practice.

Wayne Everett King, D.C. Memorial Scholarship

Recipients must:

  • Have demonstrated financial need
  • Be a United States citizen by birth
  • Be a third or fourth-year student with an expressed interest in family practice
  • Be from Sanborn, Miner, Hanson or Davison counties, in that order of preference

The scholarship is renewable if the student remains in good standing.

Dr. Clark and Gerry Likness Scholarship

First preference is given to a third or fourth-year student from Watertown, South Dakota or the Watertown area with an expressed interest in family medicine. The scholarship is renewable if the student remains in good academic standing.

Lindemann Family Scholarship

First preference is for a third or fourth-year student with an expressed interest in family medicine. The scholarship is renewable if the student remains in good academic standing.

Peter A. Lommen Jr., M.D. Memorial Scholarship

First preference is given to a third-year medical student who was raised on a farm with an expressed interest in family practice in a rural community. A student who is a recipient in their third year is eligible for consideration in their fourth year if they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.

Judson O. Mabee Scholarship

Preference shall be given to a student who is planning a career in family medicine or general internal medicine. Recipients will be selected based on academic excellence in their medical studies. The award shall be given to a student for one year only.

William H. Rueter Medical Scholarship

Annual scholarships are awarded to worthy medical students who are directing their careers to family practice in a rural South Dakota community.

Dr. Gerald Tracy/Brown Clinic Scholarship

The recipient must be a third or fourth-year medical student with an expressed interest in family practice. First preference is for a student from the northeast South Dakota area, including Roberts, Marshall, Day, Codington, Clark, Grant, Deuel, Kingsbury, Spink and Hamlin counties. The recipient should have an expressed interest in practicing in South Dakota.

Judy G. and H. Bruce Vogt Family Scholarship

First preference is given to fourth-year students with an expressed interest in pursuing a career in family medicine and in teaching either in a full-time academic position or as a part-time clinical faculty member.
