The Department of Neurosciences interacts with medical students throughout the four-year curriculum. Periodic sessions are held during Pillar One, including a session on history-taking and a session on the neurologic examination. In Pillar Two, the students participate in a longitudinal integrated clerkship on all campuses. Students spend the equivalent of one half-day a month in the clinic setting. The department offers additional experiences as well. Pillar Two students are introduced to palliative and hospices care in their interdisciplinary palliative care seminar. Sessions include didactic education, interactive interdisciplinary group discussion and one-on-one home visits with patients enrolled in palliative/hospice care.
A bioethics curriculum is also offered to students.
