CMJ student at The U is recipient of 2010 NBNA scholarship

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Kealey Bultena, a student from The University of South Dakota, is a 2010 recipient of the Jack Shelley Scholarship, which is presented annually by the Northwest Broadcast News Association.

Bultena, a Lennox, S.D., native, is a contemporary media and journalism major with a political science minor who will graduate in December 2010. A weekend news producer at KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, S.D., Bultena is a news anchor and reporter for U. News, the weekly live television newscast at USD.  

Named for Jack Shelley, professor emeritus at Iowa State University and former news director at WHO in Des Moines, Iowa, the $1,250 scholarship recognizes outstanding promise in the field of broadcasting. The scholarship is open to students at colleges and universities in Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska.

Bultena’s scholarship will be awarded on Saturday, April 17 at the NBNA’s annual Midwest Journalism Conference in Minneapolis, Minn.
