VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota has been recognized as a leader in educating adult learners. The Council on Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) recently named USD as one of the organization’s newest Adult Learning Focused Institution (ALFI).
As an ALFI institution, USD is focused on improving programs and services in order to enhance degree completion opportunities for adult learners.
The ALFI Initiative, created in 1999 by the Council on Adult Experiential Learning (CAEL), assists colleges and universities by improving campus adult learning programs. The Coalition was developed to aid in research and to allow for more collaboration with member institutions. To qualify as an ALFI Coalition member, institutions must offer degree programs to adults, be accredited by regional accrediting agencies, be a current institutional member of CAEL, and have utilized ALFI tools to enroll and educate adult learners within the past three years.
