USD online graduate business program receives U.S. News honor

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota has one of the nation’s best online graduate degree programs for business, according to U.S. News and World Report.

The publication released its “2015 Best Graduate Schools” this week and ranked the University of South Dakota in a tie for No. 27 (out of 61) as one of the Best Online Business Programs in the nation. U.S. News and World Report surveyed more than 700 master’s programs at regionally accredited colleges that deliver all required classes online. Individual ranking factors common to all surveyed include retention and graduation rates, students in debt at graduation, the average undergraduate GPAs of new entrants, proportion of faculty members with terminal degrees, proportion of full-time faculty who are tenured or tenure-track, and whether the program offers support services like career placement assistance and academic advising so they are accessible to students remotely.

“This is very nice recognition for the online business degree programs at the Beacom School of Business,” said Angeline M. Lavin, Ph.D., CFA, professor of finance and director of the M.B.A. and M.P.A. programs at USD. “Our online graduate business programs combine value and quality with a convenient delivery method. The Beacom School of Business at USD is accredited by AACSB International, so students know that their graduate business degree from USD will be well regarded by the business and academic community.”

The rankings are part of the U.S. News Media Group 2015 Best Graduate Schools rankings available online at Highlights of the rankings will be published in the “Best Graduate Schools 2015” edition, on sale Tuesday, April 8.
