USD to Graduate Nearly 600 at Winter Commencement

Commencement Nearly 600 students will receive their degrees from the University of South Dakota at winter commencement on Saturday, Dec. 10.

VERMILLION, S.D. – Nearly 600 students will receive their degrees from the University of South Dakota at winter commencement on Saturday, Dec. 10.

The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in the DakotaDome.

G. Mark Mickelson of Sioux Falls is the commencement speaker. Mark’s father, the late George Mickelson, was South Dakota’s governor from 1987-1993.

The younger Mickelson has business administration and accounting degrees from USD, and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1993. He is the president of Mickelson & Company, a consulting business for the short-line railroad industry. He also is active in real estate development.

Mickelson represents District 13 in the South Dakota House of Representatives and serves as House Speaker.
