USD Veterans Club to Host 5K Run/Walk

VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota’s Student Veterans Organization, in partnership with the Student Veterans Resource Center, will host the first annual 5K Remember Everyone Deployed “RED” Run/Walk April 22.

The event is intended to raise funds for care packages to deployed USD students and faculty and to support the Veterans Organization Emergency Relief Fund designed to help military-connected students in times of crisis. These packages, often containing items such as food and small trinkets, provide a source of comfort to those deployed.

Awards and prizes will be given to the individuals and teams that wear the most red and dress most patriotic.

The 5K run will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 22, at the northwest corner of Prentis Park in Vermillion. Participants can pre-register or donate online at AllSportCentral.com by searching “RED Run” or in person at the Student Veterans Resource Center located in the Temporary Student Center Room 117D. Registration can also be done the day of the event beginning at 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration cost is $25 per person or $100 for a team of up to five and will guarantee a t-shirt if registered by April 9. Registration on the day of competition will be $10 per person and T-Shirts will be available for $15 while supplies last.
