Beacom Student Selected for Prestigious Summer Internship in NYC

VERMILLION, SD – Sophia Lima, sophomore accounting major in the Beacom School of Business at the University of South Dakota, has accepted a summer 2018 Discovery Internship from Deloitte in New York City. Deloitte is one of the top four accounting firms in the world, reporting revenues of $38.8 billion for FY2017.

Lima will be working in both the tax and advisory areas over the course of the summer. When asked about her internship, Lima said, “New York City has always been my long-term goal as a financial center of the world.”

Lima is no stranger to summer internships. In 2017 at the end of her freshman year of study, Lima completed an internship for PwC in Chicago.

Outside of academics, Lima is currently involved in many organizations throughout the university. She serves as the president of Financial Management Association as well as president of Coyote Capital Management, a student-managed investment organization with over $1.9 million AUM and the largest student organization in the Beacom School of Business. Additionally, Lima is also involved in SERVE, Union of African American Students, Beacom Consulting Group, and Beta Alpha Psi.
