VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota men and women’s basketball teams will both face South Dakota State University in the Summit League Tournament Championship today.
The No. 1 seed USD women’s team will take on the No. 2 seed SDSU at 1 p.m. inside the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. This will be the third time the Coyotes (26-5, 14-0 Summit) meet the Jackrabbits (25-6, 12-2 Summit), after winning both regular season games by six and five points, respectively.
After an easy victory over Denver, the USD men’s team, No. 2 seed, will take on the No. 1 seed SDSU at 8 p.m. in the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. The men have met SDSU twice before, where each team took a home-court win. This is the first time South Dakota (26-7, Division I era best) will play in the Summit League Tournament Championship contest.
The men and women play for the right to go to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
In the semifinal game on Monday, the women took on Oral Roberts and won 65-53, earning the Coyotes a spot in the championship. This is the fifth time the Coyotes play in the Summit League Tournament Championship in six years.
The men faced Denver Monday evening in the semifinal game. The Coyotes won 76-58, advancing the team to the championship where they seek a first-time ticket to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
