VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota School of Law announced Brian Boyenga as its new director of career services.
“We are very excited to have Brian join the law school,” said Neil Fulton, dean of the law school. "He is already establishing direct relationships with students to identify their career plans and help make them a reality. Brian has a wealth of experience assisting students to succeed in the business field. He will be a valuable addition helping our students market themselves to employers as they start their careers.”
Boyenga transitions from the USD Beacom School of Business where he served as the graduate academic advisor and recruiter. He also has experience in higher education previously holding positions in admissions at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Cornell College in Iowa. Additionally, Boyenga was the regional director of admissions at USD for the Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, area from 2011-2014.
"The inspiration to begin my career in higher education came from my four years working in the Augustana University Career Center as an undergraduate student,” said Boyenga, a '09 Augusta University graduate. "Since then, I have spent the past 10 years working with undergraduate and graduate students in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois in achieving their academic goals."
Boyenga’s role will include assisting law students prepare for employment opportunities and connecting regional employers with students to support their hiring needs. He will also work with students on pursuing internships and externships during the summer and will work closely with Dean Fulton to find new and exciting opportunities with employers in and out of the state.
“I am most excited to get to know each of our law students personally. Learning what they are passionate about in the legal field and what motivates them to study the law will help me provide awareness and guidance toward a wide variety of types of positions and practices in the legal field,” Boyenga said.
