USD Opera Hosts Fundraising Event 'Death by Chocolate & Aria'

VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota Opera presents “Death by Chocolate & Aria,” a fundraising gala Jan. 25 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at RED Steakhouse in downtown Vermillion.

For $50 per person, attendants will enjoy an elegant evening of desserts, wine and song presented by the College of Fine Arts, the Music Department and the new opera guild, Friends of USD Opera. Proceeds from the event will support the USD Opera.

Music will be performed by USD Opera students Abby Beach, Bailey Quade, Mikayla Trenhaile and Eldon Warner. Additionally, voice/opera faculty members, Tracelyn Gesteland, D.M.A., and Nicholas Provenzale, D.M.A., will perform. USD staff pianist Diane Van Den Oever will accompany the performers on piano.

There will also be silent and live auction items to bid on, including a dinner cooked by opera conductor Luis Viquez, D. M.A., and an in-home Rawlins Piano Trio performance.
