Beacom School of Business Students Connect with Professional Firms at Networking Event

Several students sit with business professionals in the Muenster University Center ballroom. A total of 92 students attended the USD Beacom School of Business Meet the Firms event designed to help students get better acquainted with industry professionals.

VERMILLION, S.D. – Accounting and finance students in the University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business met with representatives from 22 regional and national professional firms on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The Meet the Firms event provides students the opportunity to meet with prospective regional and national employers. A total of 92 students attended the networking event designed to help students get better acquainted with industry professionals.

"Meet the Firms has given me the opportunity to connect and maintain relationships with employers from all around the region. I have personally been fortunate to obtain multiple internships from companies who have attended the event and been able to grow my business network exponentially during my time at USD," said Tate Olsen, a business student majoring in Business Administration – Accounting and Operational Analytics and Master of Professional Accountancy – Data Analytics.

"What we enjoy about the Meet the Firm is the chance to connect with students and learn their perspective about the accounting profession," said Deidre Budahl, resident audit expert and non-profit and government team leader for Casey Peterson, LTD financial professionals. "We also see a spike in students applying for our open positions after the event. That tells us it’s definitely worth the time investment."
