Bryant Jackson to Serve as University Police Department Director

VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota has announced Bryant Jackson as the director of the University Police Department (UPD). Jackson has served as interim director since May 2021.

Jackson has been with UPD for six years and has served in a variety of roles, including assistant director, administrative sergeant, patrol sergeant and university law enforcement officer.

As director, Jackson is committed to creating trust and transparency between law enforcement and the campus community.

“I am dedicated to creating and developing a professional and highly trained department to serve USD,” Jackson said. “UPD pledges to ensure we foster a safe environment for all students, staff, faculty and visitors.”

Jackson grew up in Yankton, South Dakota, and received his B.A. in Transportation and Logistics Management and his M.A. in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University. He is currently completing his Ed.D. in Adult and Higher Education at USD.
