A week long celebration for students to explore, have fun and adjust to the Yote Life.

Welcome Week is a celebration of USD's incoming class designed to help you become familiar with campus and connect with students, faculty and staff.

Friday, Aug. 23

Move-In Day

8 a.m. - 5 p.m. - One Stop Shop Hours (MUC 2nd Floor)

Do you need to speak with a staff member from the Business Office, Financial Aid or Registrar? They will be located on the MUC 2nd floor until Monday, Aug. 26.

8 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Charlies Bookstore & Fan Shop Open

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Computer Support Available (ID Weeks 112)
Information Technology Services (ITS) will be available to help with any computer needs or questions.

12 p.m. - 1 p.m. - Math Emporium Information Session (Math Emporium)
Parents and students can attend one of these sessions to learn more about Math 095 and Math 114. Sessions will take place at 12 - 1 p.m., 1 - 2 p.m. or 2 - 3 p.m.

4 p.m - Meet for Convocation (North Complex Courtyard)
Students should wear their red "23" t-shirts and meet their classmates between Mickelson and Olson Halls.

4:30 p.m. - New Student Convocation (Sanford Coyote Sports Center)
The Class of 2023 will be officially welcomed to the USD family!

5 p.m. - Community Picnic (DakotaDome Tennis Courts)
Join USD Student Services for a community picnic immediately following Convocation.

7 p.m. - First Floor Meetings (Residence Hall Floors)
Find out more from your resident assistants (RAs) for what will be happening and where you should meet.

9 p.m. - Gibran Saleem - Comedian (Aalfs Auditorium - Slagle)

8:30 a.m. - Mandatory Student Rotations (Aalfs Auditorium)

12 - 4 p.m. - Computer Support Available (ID Weeks 112)

12:30 p.m. - Lunch with the Executive Council

5 p.m. - Student Organization Fair Coyotepalooza (Across from North Complex)
Student organizations, prizes, music and fun. This is a must stop for all new students. If you are interested in any organization on campus, they will be here.

7 p.m. - Volleyball vs. Minnesota State Mankato (Sanford Coyote Sports Center)

9 p.m. - CAB presents: Aladdin
Join the Campus Activities Board  for their first event of the year. Grab a lawn chair, a blanket, a towel and a friend to enjoy a movie under the stars at the open space across from North Complex. Free with your student ID.

Sunday, Aug. 25

All Morning: Spiritual Events (various locations around town)

1 p.m. - Party at the Prentis Plunge
Head over any time today and show your student ID to get into the pool free. The pool will be open all day. 

3 p.m. - Residence Hall Complex Programs (Residence Hall)

4 p.m. - Fraternity Recruitment BBQ (Prentis Park)
Men interested in joining a fraternity are encouraged to visit and fill out a men's recruitment interest form as the first step of becoming a potential new member. During recruitment, you'll tour chapter houses, meet members and learn more about each chapter's approach to philanthropy and social events. All fraternity recruitment events are open to all male students.

11 a.m. - Motivation Monday (MUC Pit Lounge)
Have you personalized your planner yet? Join the student services staff for some bullet journaling, personalization and planning fun. Free with your student ID.

12 - 2 p.m. - Transfer & Commuter Student Mixer (MUC Ballroom)
Meet other students and pick up your welcome materials. Please bring your student ID to swipe for paw points.

5 p.m. - Fraternity Recruitment (Fraternity Houses)

7 p.m. - Grocery Bingo (MUC East Dining)
Join other USD students and the Welcome Week Leaders for USD's tradition of Grocery Bingo.

Tuesday, Aug. 27

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Computer Support Available (ID Weeks 112)

11 a.m. - Pallet Art (MUC Pit Lounge)
Take some time to DIY some decorations for your space.

3- 4 p.m - Yote Floats with Student Services (MUC Pit Lounge)
Join us in the MUC for a FREE root beer "yote" float.

4 p.m. - Union of African American Students BBQ

5 p.m. - Fraternity Recruitment

9 p.m. - Late Night at the Wellness Center
Come check out what the Wellness Center has to offer. We will have drop-in dodgeball from 9 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. and a 1.5 mile glow run, with registration running from 9 p.m. - 9:25 p.m. The run starts at 9:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Center for Diversity & Community Open House
Stop by the 2nd floor of the MUC to meet our new director, Laura Renee Chandler and the student organizations that work within the center. Find out what events the CDC has planned for the year and how you can get involved. Refreshments will be served.

1 p.m. - Bamboo (MUC Pit)
Do you know that in many cultures, bamboo represents prosperity? Join the student services team to plant your own bamboo for good luck this academic year. Be sure to swipe your student ID for paw points.

4 - 6 p.m. - Native American Services Open House (Native American Cultural Center)
Come to the Native American Cultural Center to meet the American Cultural Center staff and get some free food from Las Juanitas.

Thursday, Aug. 29

11 a.m. - 2 p.m - USD Part-Time Job and Work Study Fair (MUC Pit)
Looking for a job on campus this fall? Want to know all about awesome jobs on campus? Stop by MUC to meet with offices that will have jobs available on-campus as well as local businesses who may be looking for new employees.

5 p.m. - Fraternity Bid Acceptance

5:30 p.m. - Thursday on the Platz (Downtown Vermillion)
Grab your friends and head downtown for music, food and fun. The Vermillion Chamber of Commerce hosts Thursday on the Platz. This is a fun way to connect with the community.

8 p.m. - Coyote Crazies One Crazy Night (Sanford Coyote Sports Center)
Join the Coyote Crazies, the SOUND of USD, Spirit Teams and all fall sports teams for this high-octane party. One Crazy Night is fully stocked with your fall Coyote Crazy shirt, school pride and rich USD traditions you won't want to miss.

Wear Red Friday

All Day - Free Popcorn Friday (MUC)
Bring your red cup (the one in your welcome bag) to the MUC Information Desk and get free popcorn all day.

11 a.m. - DJ in the MUC
The MUC rocks every Friday with its own DJ. Stop by and request your favorite song.

11 a.m. - Fantastic Friday
Build your own stuffed coyote. Free, while supplies last, with your student ID.

7 p.m. & 9 p.m. - Downtown Vermillion Movie
Head down to the Vermillion Theaters where USD students get free admission to a 7:00 p.m. movie with their student ID.

Join us in the fall of 2020 when we welcome the Coyote Class of 2024 to campus. We are planning a great week with many activities, so check back often as we set the schedule and add to the fun. Go Yotes!
