Discover USD This Summer

The University of South Dakota offers a variety of summer programs designed to educate and inspire youth in a variety of academic, athletic and extracurricular camps. Participants have the opportunity to expand their education and skills while making new friends and experiencing life at USD.

Kid's University

Kid's University provides academically oriented instruction and recreational activities to produce a fun summer learning environment.  Campers will enjoy a wide variety of academic subjects including art, technology, music, writing, science and math.  Planned activities for each theme will be age appropriate, with experiences becoming more challenging for older age groups.  Kid's University is a great way to keep your child physically and mentally fit over the summer.

Early Scholars:

The University of South Dakota's Early Scholars program encourages eligible high school students to earn college credit while in high school, which can be transferred toward a college degree program.  Advanced-level juniors and seniors interested in accelerating their coursework toward a college degree are encouraged to enroll in the Early Scholars program.  If you are not interested in college credit, USD offers a variety of other camps to enhance your leadership skills.

USD Coyotes Scrubs Nurse Camp

Thinking about becoming a registered nurse? Then, this is the summer camp for you! Join us to learn about how to prepare for nursing school and what being a nurse is all about. Participate in hands-on activities, learn how to perform nursing skills and much more.

VEX IQ Robotics Day Camp:

Co-Ed Camp: TBD
Girl's Camp: TBD

Join us for this fast-paced day camp open to youth entering grades 4th-8th.   Choose between our co-ed camp or our camp exclusively for girls. This two-day camp will focus on designing and building with the VEX IQ robotics hardware. The first day will include building the robot using a simplified engineering design process with the second day featuring text-based programming in RobotC for programming the remote/one sensor.  Camp will run 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day with lunch provided.  Housing is not provided for the camp.

Campers will work with robotics enthusiasts who have participated in robotics competitions and will be encouraged to stay involved in robotics after the camp. Dates for camps to be determined.

Athletic Camps:

USD Athletic camps welcome boys and girls ages 11 – 18.  All camps are held at the DakotaDome, South Dakota's premier sports facility.  USD's summer athletic camps offer a variety of programs to choose from. The schedule includes basketball, football, swimming and volleyball.
