20 Teams Compete at Coyote VEX IQ Challenge
The competition, which challenged about 100 elementary and middle school students to build a robot that could complete a variety of tasks in a timed setting, drew schools from South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska.
Students were judged on their competition score, robotics engineering design, computer programming, STEM project, sportsmanship and teamwork.
The 2018 Coyote VEX IQ Challenge was supported by the University of South Dakota, the Vermillion Chamber & Development Company, Masaba, the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation and the Vermillion Area Robotics Club (VARC).
Over the past four years, VARC has grown to be one of the premier competitive robotics teams in the state and region earning top honors in national and international competitions. With community support, VARC has provided STEM activities to over 100 area children each year.

STEM Research Project Award - The Guardians from Vermillion Area Robotics Club in Vermillion, South Dakota.
