Beginning at 9 a.m., posters and presentations documenting Missouri River research will be offered inside the Al Neuharth Media Center. Persons interested in Missouri River issues are encouraged to join researchers from the University and other academic institutions, as well as federal, state and local organizations for discussion of the science, history and policy of the Missouri River. Organizations contributing to the symposium include the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Faculty and students from the USD biology and earth science departments, Virginia Tech University and University of Nebraska-Omaha will present their research through lectures beginning at 9 a.m. All presentations are free and open to the public. Some of the scheduled speakers include Gale Jons of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (9:40 a.m.), Gerald Mestl of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (10:30 a.m.), Kristen Grohs of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (1:40 p.m.), and Tim Cowman, director of the Missouri River Institute at USD (3:40 p.m.).
