2018 Strings Extravaganza Concert April 18
The University of South Dakota Symphony Orchestra will host the 2018 Strings Extravaganza Concert at 6 p.m. in Colton Recital Hall April 18.
The concert features five student conductors including seniors Brittany Kolbeck and Elizabeth Wensmann, both bachelor of music education students.
“This concert is unique, as not so many times undergraduate students get the opportunity to conduct an orchestra in their senior year. Our instrumental conducting program at USD is the only one of its type in the state and has grown exponentially in the last two years,” said Luis A. Víquez, director of orchestral activities at USD.
Graduate students Michael Ugrich, Krissy Blunck and Damon Lamberty will also conduct performances. They are students in the Master’s of Music Degree in Instrumental program.
The event is free and open to the public.
