Addiction Studies Professor Chosen for National Post
VERMILLION, S.D. -- A longtime assistant professor of addiction studies at the University of South Dakota has been elected president-elect of the National Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC).
Diane Sevening, Ed.D., will serve two years in that position, two years as president and then two years as past president. The NAADAC represents the professional interests of more than 85,000 addiction counselors, educators and other addiction-focused health care professionals in the United States, Canada and other countries.
Sevening received three degrees from USD: BS in alcohol and drug abuse studies; MA in counseling, guidance and personnel services; and Ed.D. in adult higher education. She has taught in the USD School of Health Sciences since 1982.
