The women of Alpha Phi at USD participate in more than 30 campus and community organizations, including Student Government Association, Student Ambassadors, Adopt-a-School and Big Pal Little Pal. Additionally, women of the Psi Chapter are leaders in several campus associations such as Dance Marathon, Political Science League, Student Ambassadors and PanHellenic Council.

For their outstanding efforts in scholarship, citizenship and leadership, the Psi Chapter of Alpha Phi at USD is a past recipient of prestigious Greek awards, including the Friendship Pillar and the Corinthian Award as Sorority of the Year. The Psi Chapter of Alpha Phi is prominent in the Vermillion community during the holidays at the Vermillion Welcome Table, serve as volunteer bell ringers for the Salvation Army and donate proceeds from the philanthropy event, Alpha Phiesta, to the Vermillion Backpack Program. In 2011, the sorority raised $8,700 from its Red Dress Gala for local charities and implemented two new philanthropy projects, Cardiac Arrest and “Buy a Heart Get a Kiss.”

Alpha Phi international Fraternity was founded at Syracuse University in 1872 as one of the first Greek societies for women. Alpha Phi is dedicated to promoting sisterhood, cultivating leadership, encouraging intellectual curiosity, and advocating service. The organization is comprised of more than 150 collegiate chapters and more than 130 alumnae chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
