"I am delighted Dr. Moore has accepted this opportunity to join The U," stated James W. Abbott, president of The University of South Dakota. "She is a true scholar librarian with an extensive record of library leadership, active scholarship and publication in librarianship."

Moore has worked for W.E.B. Du Bois Library since 2001 as head of Reference Services and then as associate director for User Services. Previously, she served as a branch librarian and as electronic resources librarian for New Mexico State University; and was a library manager for George Mason University libraries in Fairfax and Manassas, Va.

"I am thrilled to join the outstanding faculty and staff of the I.D. Weeks and Lommen Health Sciences Libraries as we embark on the adventure of creating a truly outstanding library of the 21st century for the students, faculty and staff of The University of South Dakota and the citizens of the state and region," commented Moore. "With the support of the extraordinary students, faculty, staff and administration of USD, and terrific library facilities and collections, we will create environments, collections and services that meet the constantly-evolving learning and research needs of the USD community."

Moore conducts research into improving academic library services and information literacy. An active member of the American Library Association, Association of College & Research Libraries, Association for Library and Information Science Education, and Massachusetts Library Association, Moore has a Ph.D. in educational management and development with concentration in higher education administration and technology integration from New Mexico State University; a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of North Carolina; and a bachelor of arts degree in English and Spanish from Duke University.
