The USD Alpha Eta chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was recently presented with the National Outstanding Financial Operations award, which is awarded to the chapter that plans and implements the most effective and comprehensive program of fundraising and financial management. This award is presented to only one chapter in the nation each year. The Alpha Eta Chapter has had tremendous success with fundraising by partnering with USD to manage all merchandise sales for the Charlie’s tailgate trailer and inside the Dakota Dome, as well as working with Aramark to staff concessions for USD sporting events.

“Alpha Eta was presented with ten fraternity awards this year, which stands as the most chapter awards in a single year in our chapter’s 95-year history,” said Professor Dan Tracy, chapter advisor for Delta Sigma Pi. “I am so proud of our Delta Sigma Pi members for receiving this honor for their unparalleled achievements while bringing recognition and prominence to the Beacom School of Business and the University of South Dakota on an international stage.”

In total the Alpha Eta Chapter was recognized with 10 awards, which included:

  • Chapter of Excellence
  • Outstanding Alumni Relations (Great Plains Region)
  • Outstanding Service (Great Plains Region)
  • Chapter Advisor of the Year (Great Plains Region, Northcentral Province)
  • Most Outstanding Collegiate Chapter (Great Plains Region and Northcentral Province)
  • Outstanding Financial Operations (Great Plains Region, Northcentral Province, National)

Chapter advisor Dan Tracy attended the conference with four of the organization’s 41 members, where he was presented with the Chapter Advisor of the Year award for both the Great Plains Region and Northcentral Province.

“Dr. Tracy has always taken an active role in our chapter, whether he is volunteering for a fundraiser or serving as a mentor to our members,” said Sarah Sauer, Beacom senior and president of the Delta Sigma Pi student organization.

Delta Sigma Pi is a professional business fraternity in the Beacom School of Business dedicated to promoting leadership and networking opportunities to business students at USD.
