He’s also been the recipient of awards from the Associated Press and United Press International.

In addition to his latest publication, Thomas has authored several books, including “Things That Matter Most,” “Liberals for Lunch” and “The Death of Ethics in America.” He and his wife, Ray, a family therapist, have four children and eight grandchildren, and reside in the Washington, D.C. area.

This presentation, which is free and open to the public, is made possible through a generous donation by USD alumnus James Bunt and is hosted by the W.O. Farber Center for Civic Leadership. Established in 1997 by the South Dakota Board of Regents as a Center of Excellence, USD’s W.O. Farber Center for Civic Leadership provides 20 students annually the opportunity to pursue an academic minor in civic leadership. These studies prepare students to face difficult public problems in a shared manner consistent with constitutional values.
