Dance Marathon smashes records at USD
“Our goal was to raise more funds and awareness than ever for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and we did it,” said senior Dzenan Berberovic, USD Dance Marathon chair. “At 9 a.m. at Sunday’s culminating ceremony, when the total for this year was revealed - a whopping $51,475 – we knew it was a life-changing experience all for local sick and injured children.”
USD, which hosts the largest Dance Marathon in the state, raised almost more money than Dance Marathons at the University of Nebraska ($27,000) and South Dakota State University ($34,000) combined. Dance Marathon is a 24-hour nationwide, student run philanthropy that raises money for CMN.
The U hosted its first CMN Dance Marathon in April 1998, the first CMN Dance Marathon in the region. Additionally, USD has assisted other schools in organizing a Dance Marathon on their campuses. Funds received through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. directly impacts the lives of children and their families by providing assistance in travel, lodging, food, direct support and medical expenses.
