In association with the 2012 Biennial Women and Gender Research Conference, the “Elements of Memory” features work that investigates relationships between the artists’ body and the effects of place upon memory. Geary, an M.F.A. candidate in printmaking from Ocala, Fla., received a B.F.A. in printmaking from the University of Florida. Her work includes references to the body layered with a variety of scientific imagery. She employs many forms of printmaking to create a feeling of history and depth within each work, using map imagery to lend credence to the intangible places of nostalgia.

Geary’s exhibition is open to the public 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. An opening reception for the artist and exhibition is 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. For more information about the exhibit, please contact Alison Erazmus, director of University Art Galleries, at (605) 677-3177 or Jill Ward, Campus Events Coordinator, at (605) 677-5398.
