Farber Center at USD welcomes writer Anya Kamenetz
Nominated for a Pulitzer Prize by the Village Voice, Kamenetz is scheduled to present a program about her new book, “DIY U: Edupunks, Edupreneurs, and the Coming Transformation of Higher Education.” She will also meet with USD Global Challenges students at 2 p.m. Kamenetz is best known for her book, “Generation Debt: The New Economics of Being Young,” written when she was just 24. The book garnered national media attention and passionate online debate with its argument that young people are facing unique and unprecedented economic challenges. In her latest book, “DIY U: Edupunks, Edupreneurs, and the Coming Transformation of Higher Education,” Kamenetz tells the story of how technology is disrupting one of the most tradition-bound industries in the country and how institutions must evolve to meet the challenges of the next century. A sought-after media expert, Kamenetz currently covers the future of business, including sustainability and social entrepreneurship, as a writer for Fast Company magazine.

The only leadership program in the state – as well as the oldest and most well-established leadership program in the Midwest – the W.O. Farber Center for Civic Leadership was established by the South Dakota Board of Regents in 1997 as a Center of Excellence. Housed within the Department of Political Science at USD, the W.O.
