Law professor at The U co-authors Constitutional Law casebook
In addition to Day, authors contributing to "Cases and Materials on Constitutional Law," Fifth Edition, include David Crump of the University of Houston Law Center, Eugene Gressman of the University of North Carolina School of Law and Charles W. "Rocky" Rhodes of the South Texas College of Law. A casebook such as "Cases and Materials on Constitutional Law" is a type of textbook used primarily in law schools and contains excerpts from legal cases that apply to that particular area of law.
"Cases and Materials on Constitutional Law," Fifth Edition, contains many unique features for students studying Constitutional Law, including actual litigation documents from constitutional cases, a short history of the Constitution, several problems based on cutting-edge issues, a brief chapter on state constitutional law and full text of the Constitution to encourage students to read it. Landmark cases from Brown v. Board of Education to Bush v. Gore are also included and the casebook also has a concise chapter devoted to the Second Amendment providing students an opportunity to interpret these socially significant laws despite a relative scarcity of court opinions.
An author of more than 30 articles and several prior editions of the casebook, Day has been a member of the USD School of Law faculty since 1983. His courses include Constitutional Law, First Amendment Rights, Civil Procedures, Civil Rights Litigation, Legal Writing and Employment Discrimination. Twice a recipient of the USD Law School Faculty Teaching Award, Day received his juris doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1977.
