Local Art Aims to Reduce Stormwater Pollution
As part of the Adopt-a-Drain program, local artists will paint high-traffic storm drains around town. Since the drains lead directly to the Vermillion River, the local sustainability organization aims to create a fun and unique solution to reduce dangerous runoff that hurts fish, wildlife and the recreational use of the river.
Anyone in Vermillion can become a sponsor for the campaign by adopting a local storm drain. Residents who sponsor a specific drain receive a photo of the art that’s on display. Sponsorship is $100 for a painted drain and $25 for a stenciled version. Email questions to [email protected].
