Friedemann-Sánchez will present an artist talk Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. in room 172 of the Warren M. Lee Center. An artist’s closing reception is scheduled for Jan. 17 from 5-7 p.m. in the John A. Day Gallery.

Friedemann-Sánchez’s bicultural work is anchored in feminism, and is infused with American and Colombian cultural forms that explore the experiences of identity, memory and gender. Friedemann-Sánchez’s work is a visual novel of paintings, sculptures, objects and mixed media that together create a multi-narrative novel about cultural memory, migration and the pursuit of the American dream.

“Palimpsests” is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information, contact Amy Fill at 605-658-3437, or visit the University Art Galleries website.
