Nineteen USD students to helm spring Coyote News broadcasts
The first Coyote News broadcasts are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. on Midcontinent Cable (channel 21 in Vermillion) for U. News TV while KAOR listeners can tune at noon for U. News Radio on FM 91.1. Weekly newscasts will follow every Wednesday through the spring semester.
Co-producers for U. News TV are Brett Beyeler of Newcastle, Neb., and Kristi Salyers of Malvern, Iowa, while Angelica Brackins of Rapid City, S.D., and Kealey Bultena of Lennox, S.D., will serve as U. News co-anchors. Jeremy Mollet of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Dave Hulse from Vermillion will deliver scores and highlights and conduct interviews as sports anchors for KYOT. Sports director is Mike Dailey of South Sioux City, Neb. Dailey will also serve as sports commentary host for U. News TV. Commentary will be presented by Wayne Curry of Tampa, Fla., (entertainment) and Chris Kirkeby of Rapid City while Kristin Kellar of Spencer, Iowa, and Amy Mart of Vermillion will deliver “Yote Report” features. Yankton, S.D., native Emily Van Zee is assignment editor and the live correspondent for U. News TV, and Sioux Falls native Seth Sinclair is U. News TV Web editor. Sinclair is also host of U. Blog, a live segment of U. News devoted to blogs, Facebook and Twitter.
News director for U. News Radio this spring is Travis Berg of Huron, S.D., while Marcus Brooks of Sioux Falls, Sean Hoesing of Bronson, Iowa, and Kellar will share news anchor duties while Jarrod Tell of Mason City, Iowa, and Kyle Miller of Algona, Iowa, will serve as U. News Radio reporters for the 2010 spring semester.
An opportunity for USD students to gain professional, ethical and leadership experience, Coyote News programs provide informational and entertainment programming for a weekly audience. All Coyote News leadership positions are open to any full-time USD student regardless of their major. Adviser for U. News is Michelle Van Maanen, Ed.D., and Todd Mechling is the adviser for KYOT-TV.
