Nominations Open for the Vicki Clarke Prairie Family Business of the Year Award
The Vicki Clarke Prairie Family Business of the Year award was established in memory of Vicki Clarke, who served on the association’s board from 1997-2000. The Clarke Family of County Fair Foods in Mitchell, South Dakota, endowed the award in memory of Vicki. This prestigious award is presented to a local family business annually at the Annual Family Business Conference. The 2022 conference is slated for April 28-29, 2022.
The selection criteria considered for eligible family businesses include those that: make valuable contributions to the community through leadership roles, volunteer service and financial support; demonstrate pride in the family business, genuine caring for personal well-being of employees and recognize their contributions to the success of the business; integrity and honesty in business relationships with employees, customers, the community and in advertising; demonstrate proven success and growth of the family business since its founding. Recipients of local family business awards are also eligible to receive the award.

The Prairie Family Business Association (PFBA), founded in 1992, is an outreach center of the University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business. PFBA helps family business thrive through generations by providing a resource network for family business success. The association serves more than 220 member businesses throughout the region and nation.
