Omaha poet headlines USDs VLP poetry reading slam
Hermanson’s poetry has been published in "Backroads," "Mental Horizons," "Midwest Compilation" and "Slamma Lamma Ding Dong: An Anthology of Nebraska Slam Poets." In addition to being a part of public art projects, including "OmaHome" and the Omaha benchmarks project, which featured brief inspirational quotes on benches throughout the community, Hermanson organized the first Poets’ Chautauqua at the Nebraska State Fair in 2003 – the same year she released her first book, “Midwest Hotel.” Her reading will be followed by a poetry slam – open to anyone. Poets planning to slam should bring three poems. Prizes will be awarded to slam winners.
