Pommersheim Discusses Experiences in Indian Law on Credit Hour
Frank Pommersheim, a professor at the University of South Dakota School of Law, discussed his experiences in Volunteer in Services to America (VISTA), his work on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation and his passion for teaching Indian law and the rights of Indigenous peoples in South Dakota on the latest episode of Credit Hour.
Each year, Pommersheim takes law students on a two-day trip to the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation to see various tribal court cases in action.
“I can talk about Indian law in class, but we need to go out there,” Pommersheim said. “Students need hands-on experience.”
Pommersheim has taught at USD for over 30 years and has won many awards for his work. He recently was honored by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe for a career and lifetime of work in Indian law.
