School of Law Hosts Gunderson Lecture Jan 29
“We are excited to welcome Governor Daugaard back home to USD," said USD President Sheila K. Gestring. "His life and career serves an example for all our students.”
Daugaard served as South Dakota’s 32nd governor from 2011-2019, and lieutenant governor from 2003-2011. He earned his bachelor's degree from USD in 1975 and juris doctorate from Northwestern University in 1978.
The Gunderson Lecture is the Law School’s pre-eminent annual lecture and honors the memory of Clark Y. Gunderson, who devoted his life to legal education and public service. In 1934, he began his 30-year tenure as a professor at the USD School of Law, his alma mater. Gunderson taught at USD until his death in 1964. The annual lecture, which is open to USD students and the public, is provided through the LSF Trust Fund established by the Gunderson family.
“The Gunderson lecture is a great opportunity for our students to learn more about leadership and the political and legislative process," Gestring said.
