Sorority and Fraternity Life Fall Recap and Spring Preview
VERMILLION, S.D. – Members of the sorority and fraternity community continued to meet high standards of recruitment, philanthropy and academic success in the fall semester of 2016. Here are the final statistics:
- A record 305 men went through fraternity recruitment, with 176 completing the recruitment process. Of the 150 new sorority members, 139 entered the sorority that was their first choice.
- The sorority and fraternity community earned a fall GPA of 3.264, compared to the all-campus average of 3.132.
- At the end of 2016 there were 1,059 sorority and fraternity members at USD. That amounts to 21 percent of the undergraduate population, which is up 1 percent from last year. The community performed 16,427 hours of community service and raised $98,468 for various philanthropies.
