South Dakota KIDS COUNT Program Director Honored for Outstanding Service
Cochran received the recognition at the 19th Annual Community Response to Child Abuse Conference, which was held on Friday, Oct. 4. SDKC is an outreach center at the Beacom School of Business.
This award is given out annually by CPCM in recognition of an individual’s relentless dedication and service to South Dakota in the effort to eradicate child maltreatment. Cochran is the second person to receive this award and was nominated by Krista Herren-Graber, executive director of the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault.
For 23 years, Cochran has served as the program director of SDKC, a nonprofit organization that provides access to high quality data and research to inform policy decisions that impact children and families. SDKC publishes an annual Factbook, quarterly issue briefs and special reports throughout the year illustrating the well-being of South Dakota’s children.
“Carole has dedicated a large part of her career to understanding data surrounding child welfare in the state of South Dakota,” said CPCM director Carrie G. Sanderson. “Countless agencies and state partners benefited from Carole’s efforts. The Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment is honored to present Carole with the 2019 Outstanding Services award and to celebrate her contribution to making South Dakota children safer and healthier.”
