Panelists will discuss antitrust and competition issues in agricultural markets and the new era of antitrust enforcement in agricultural and other rural markets of the Midwest. The 10 a.m. panel, “Antitrust and Competition Issues in America’s Heartland,” features David A. Balto, an antitrust lawyer in Washington, D.C.; Bill Bullard, former rancher in Perkins County, S.D. and chief executive officer of R-CALF USA; Peter C. Carstensen, professor of antitrust law at the University of Wisconsin Law School; Milton A. Marquis, a partner at Dickstein Shapiro L.L.P. in Washington D.C.; and Dr. Diana L. Moss, vice president, director, and senior research fellow of the American Antitrust Institute.

At 2 p.m., Thomas J. Horton, associate professor of law at the USD School of Law; Dr. James W. Brock, Bill R. Moeckel Professor of Economics at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; Jesse W. Markham Jr., Marshall P. Madison Professor of Law at the University of San Francisco School of Law; and Maurice E. Stucke, professor of law at the University of Tennessee College of Law, will lead the panel, “New Approaches to Antitrust and Their Potential Implications for America’s Heartland.”

In addition to hosting the annual symposium,The Law Review sponsors lectures and other events over the course of each academic year. The South Dakota Law Review was first published in the spring of 1956 and is published three times a year by students at the USD School of Law.
