Stand up Economist Yoram Bauman coming to USD
Bauman, also known as “The Stand-up Economist,” teaches environmental economics at the University of Washington. He integrates comedy show-style humor with current economic issues, including the financial crisis as well as environmental concerns. His unique program will be showcased at the Beacom Hall Auditorium free and open to the public.
The Seattle, Wash., native began doing stand-up comedy as a graduate student after writing a parody of the “Ten Principles of Economics” and attending open-mic nights at the Comedy Underground, a comedy club in Seattle. Additionally, Bauman is the co-author of a new book, “The Cartoon Introduction to Economics, Volume 1: Microeconomics,” and he is the producer of “Non-Profit Comedy,” a benefit show that has raised more than $75,000 for Seattle-area non-profit organizations.
Omicron Delta Epsilon is an International Economics Honor Society that was established at USD in 1976. Membership in Omicron Delta Epsilon signifies outstanding scholastic performance in economics. The society's journal, The American Economist, provides publishing opportunities for the young scholar.
