The verdict is in USD School of Law is one of nations best
The education services company features USD’s law school in the new 2011 edition of its book, "The Best 172 Law Schools," available on newsstands now. Known for its college rankings based on how students rate their schools, The Princeton Review does not rank the law schools academically or hierarchically. Instead, the rankings are based on student surveys conducted during the 2009-10, 2008-09 and 2007-08 academic years.
"Because the rankings are based on student evaluations, we’re excited to be included in this list of the Best Law Schools in the nation," said Barry R. Vickrey, dean of the School of Law. "We are honored that our extraordinary faculty has been recognized as they provide our students with a strong curriculum that they can be proud of."
According to the survey results, the USD School of Law earns plaudits for having “one of the best Native American Law programs available, as well as a strong criminal law program.” USD earned praise for widening its law school curriculum by offering such courses as media and communication law, immigration law, sports law, and military law. Another asset is the law school’s close relationship with the State Bar and the Unified Judicial System in South Dakota, which provide great opportunities for students to get involved in the practice of law in the state of South Dakota.
"The Best 172 Law Schools: 2011 Edition" has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on their academics, student life and admissions, plus ratings for their academics, selectivity and career placement services. The Princeton Review compiled the lists based on its surveys of 18,000 students attending the 172 law schools as well as on school-reported data. The complete list is posted at www.PrincetonReview.com where users can also access information on how they were compiled and find detailed profiles on the schools.
