USD Alum Hoeck Named South Dakota Sportswriter of the Year
VERMILLION, S.D. — The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association has named University of South Dakota alum Jeremy Hoeck its 2015 South Dakota Sportswriter of the Year.
Hoeck, 30, joined the Yankton Press & Dakotan in 2006 as a sports writer while he was still a student and was promoted to assistant sports editor in 2008. He currently covers USD athletics as his beat, which also includes Yankton High School and other sports. His news duties at the daily paper include social media editor.
Hoeck graduated from USD in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in history and minor in contemporary media and journalism. He was a sports writer and also served as sports editor for the student newspaper, The Volante.
