USD Dept of Music to host 11th annual Quad State Honor Band
Students from more than 35 area schools will rehearse and participate in sectionals with faculty members from the USD Department of Music throughout the day culminating with a 7 p.m. concert. The concert, which is in the Wayne S. Knutson Theatre at the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts, is free and open to the public.
The two ensembles will be directed by Lawrence Mitchell, D.M.A., director of bands emeritus, and Kenneth Drobnak, D.M.A., USD Symphonic Band Director. One hundred and seventy-five students were accepted and placed into one of two honor bands after being nominated by their school band directors. Close to 300 students were nominated for this honor.
