USD Earns Gold Military Friendly® Schools Award
“Receiving a Gold Military Friendly® recognition is a direct reflection of the support USD leaders and staff have for our military members,” said Katie McPherson, veterans compliance officer at USD.
The term “military” refers to all people in the military community, which includes active duty, reserve and guard service members, veterans and military spouses.
USD is committed to supporting people in the military community with social and academic support. The USD Student Veteran Resource Center is a designated space that allows military affiliated students to adjust to life outside the military while connecting individuals with similar backgrounds and sets USD apart from other institutions. USD’s Military & Veteran Student Services provides programs and services to help students in the military community integrate into student life as smoothly as possible.
“Military education benefits can be very overwhelming. Having a designated point of contact here on campus to assist with military benefits is extremely helpful and beneficial for the military community,” said McPherson. “It is an honor and privilege working with this population of students.”
