The grant will provide funding to support I CARE and the community coordinated response team (CCRT) that work to prevent sexual assault and interpersonal violence (IPV), including domestic violence, dating violence and stalking, through advocacy and education. USD will be able to broaden IPV prevention services by mobilizing across the student body, campus and surrounding community with a focus on students who identify with marginalized populations.

The grant also allowed USD to hire Shalea Schloss, M.S., as director of I CARE. She will begin her position Jan. 6.

“We are so excited to broaden our sexual assault and IPV prevention efforts at USD and to welcome Shalea to our team,” said Kim Grieve, Ph.D., vice president for student services and dean of students. “Her experience in mental health and working with students will be invaluable as she promotes the vision of I CARE to our Coyote community.”
