Schools can enroll online through Friday, Dec. 16 at www.spellingbee.com/enrollment and are eligible to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Home school students are also eligible to enroll online for the state competition. The contest is open for students in first grade through the eighth grade. All state winners will advance to the 85th Scripps National Spelling Bee, May 27-June 1, in Washington, D.C.

The nation's largest and longest-running educational promotion, the Scripps National Spelling Bee is administered on a not-for-profit basis by the E.W. Scripps Company and local spelling bee sponsors in the United States, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Department of Defense Schools in Europe; also, the Bahamas, Canada, China, Ghana, Jamaica, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea.
