This year’s juror is Jodi Lundgren; coordinator of exhibitions at the South Dakota Art Museum in Brookings, S.D. Lundgren is a South Dakota native who received her B.F.A. with an emphasis in painting from the University of South Dakota. She has worked in art museums in South Dakota for the past 10 years, organizing exhibitions with local, regional, national and international artists. As curator of the Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center in Sioux Falls from 2009-13, she curated and designed exhibitions by Auguste Rodin, Andy Warhol, Norman Rockwell, Ansel Adams and Dr. Seuss.

Sponsored by University Art Galleries and the USD Department of Art, the annual juried student art show recognizes artistic talent and creative work from USD students. Winners from last year included Nate Bucholz, “Best in Show,” for “untitled: Working on cars with my dad inspired this piece” (2013). The annual Stilwell Student Awards Exhibition is supported by an endowment established in l987 and honors Wilber Stilwell’s commitment to art education. Stilwell, who joined the USD faculty immediately after receiving his master’s degree from the University of Iowa in 1941, served on the USD Department of Art faculty for 32 years and as department chair for 26 years. The exhibit is named for Stilwell and his wife, Gladys.
