As a part of the James and Roth Ann Weaver Guest Artist Series, the Baumer String Quartet (www.baumersq.com) will conduct the masterclass, which is open to public, from 2 to 4 p.m. and host a performance at 7:30 p.m. Both events are free to the public and will be in Colton Recital Hall at the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts. The concert program is music by Mozart, Shostakovich, andDvo?ák.

Led by the current concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Baumer String Quartet (Nathan Olson, violin I; Aaron Requiro, violin II; John T. Posadas, viola; and David Requiro, cello) was founded in 2003 by a group of young musicians from the Cleveland Institute of Music. The members are also active as international soloists, former/current leaders of eminent ensembles, and educators. The Quartet was the silver-medal winner of the prominent Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition in 2005, and recorded Aaron Jay Kernis’s "100 Greatest Dance Hits" on the Black Box label. They are currently quartet-in-residence at Monterey Chamber Music Workshop, artist faculty at the Crowden Chamber Music Workshop, and faculty members at the University of Puget Sound and the University of South Florida.
