USD Nursing Charters New Chapter of International Honor Nursing Society
Members of the new chapter, Omega Beta 552, include nursing leaders from USD and the region who have demonstrated significant achievement in the nursing profession as well as nursing students who have demonstrated academic excellence and integrity.
Founded in 1922, Sigma is the global organization of choice for the nursing profession. The distinguished society includes more than 135,000 active members in 90 countries. There are approximately 530 chapters at more than 700 institutions located around the world. Almost 40 percent of Sigma’s members hold master’s and/or doctorate degrees.
Sigma was the first organization to support nursing research, and it recognizes the value of scholarship and excellent practice as its core standards.
USD’s chapter is led by an 8-person board of directors, and 32 individuals from the USD nursing program are charter members.
