USD professor garners second place awards at JPF ceremony
Yarbrough, nominated for Best Classical Contemporary Album of the Year ("Alleluias for Orchestra"), and Best Classical Contemporary Song of the Year, ("Alleluias for Orchestra" and "After School"), was one of several musicians to submit materials to the JPF. Overall, judges reviewed 42,000 CD albums and 560,000 individual songs to arrive at the final nominees. After six rounds of judging that took 14 months to complete, winners were announced last month at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.
"After School" is the last movement of a larger orchestral suite titled "Prairie Triptych – Three Scenes of Harvey Dunn" while "Alleluias for Orchestra" includes several performances by the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and other well-known South Dakota artists.
