USD School of Education Honor of Fallen Veterans
In a collaboration between the school and the Vermillion Veterans of Foreign Wars, education students can work in pairs to research a fallen hero from Clay County. Winners will receive $300 and a Vermillion VFW certificate, and their work will be preserved at the Clay County Historical Society. Second and third place will win $200 and $100, respectively, and will also receive VFW certificate.
The School of Education aims to recognize veteran status as a key part of the university's diversity and inclusiveness. USD education students can choose to research one fallen hero from Clay County who served during WWI, WWII, the Korean or Vietnam war. They will have access to local archives and other online resources for the contest.
The entry deadline is noon, March 3. For more information or to sign up, contact Jing An, Ph.D.
