Jill Guericke, a finance major from White Lake, S.D., along with faculty members Mike Allgrunn, Ph.D., an associate professor of economics, and Angeline Lavin, Ph.D., professor of finance, received the Faculty/Student Collaborative Research Award at the Academy of Business Disciplines Conference.

The paper submitted, which is entitled “Effects of Macroeconomics Variables on Consumer Staples and Consumer Discretionary Sectors,” is part of Guericke’s honor thesis, which includes research from Allgrunn’s econometrics class from 2013. Guericke will defend her thesis later this month and is scheduled to graduate in May 2014. As a result of winning the award, “Effects of Macroeconomics Variables on Consumer Staples and Consumer Discretionary Sectors” will be published in the Academy of Business Disciplines Journal.
